Safety Exit

The National Domestic Violence Hotline defines it as “a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship.”. The core of domestic violence is power and control which manifests into multiple different behaviors.

The 5 Types of Domestic Violence:

1) Physical

2) Sexual

3) Psychological (Example: Gaslighting- questioning the victims sanity/memory…alters the victims view of truth and reality against them to control them…)

4) Emotional (name calling, isolation from friends/family, threats of punishment, shaming, blaming, constant criticism…)

5) Financial (refusing access to marital funds or money, taking any money the victim makes immediately away, refusing to allow the victim to work making them 100% dependent on the abuser…)
